Rosebud hosts 6th Annual Fifteen Minutes of Fame Music Festival
Rosebud, Alberta (Aug 29 2011) – Rosebud, the well-known hamlet 100 km NE of Calgary is perhaps best known for its theatre productions that attract 40,000 visitors annually. It is also home to the Rosebud School of the Arts, a post-secondary institution that offers conservatory training in theatre and music to students, many of whom advance to perform in productions by Rosebud Theatre. Since 2006, Rosebud also gained a reputation for hosting 15 Minutes of Fame, a one-day music festival in early September.
"This is a fun and exciting event for music fans and for the Rosebud," says event volunteer, Heather Little. "The music festival showcases, Rosebud as a travel and entertainment destination for both its beauty and artistic expressions. To sit on a blanket or a chair and take in this wide array of music, is both relaxing and rejuvenating. I love being a part of this great event that is a terrific time for musicians and audiences.”
Performers at this year’s 15 Minutes of Fame include: Calum Graham, a 19-year-old guitar virtuoso from High River, who won 1st Place at the 2010 Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competition.

Joal Kamps, who blends storytelling with songwriting to create music that is described as Rocky Mountain ‘folk-pop’.

Also performing are The Fire Coulee Bandits, a Celtic-rock group from Drumheller.

Rosebud’s popular Celtic folk trio The Peacocks, featuring Talitha Peacock (Celtic harp), Rachel Peacock (Celtic harp/flute) and Travis Friesen (vocals/guitar) will offer festivalgoers a unique sound.

And, re-uniting for one concert is local favourite, the Rosebud River Valley Boys.
In addition to the fantastic line-up of performers, this year will features two new restaurants - Wild Horse Jack’s Bistro and Grill and The Thorny Rose. Both will be open throughout the festival to satisfy a wide variety of culinary and beverage tastes. Rosebud Gifts and Crafts will also be open for those looking for that special gift that is unique to Rosebud.
15 Minutes of Fame runs 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Sunday, September 4 at West Opera House Square in Rosebud and is appropriate for all ages. Please be aware that this is an outdoor event so dress appropriately. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the World’s Largest Dinosaur in Drumheller or at the Royal Sproule Art Gallery in Rosebud. Advance tickets are $15 per adult, $12 for youth (12-17 years old) and free for children under 12. At the gate, tickets are $18 per adult, $15 for youth (12-17 years old) and free for children under 12. 15 Minutes of Fame began in 2006, when two local artists combined parties and emerged with one fantastic celebration. Each year the event has evolved to encompass more elements of art and to grow in attendance. The festival has become about celebrating emerging arts that evoke the human senses.
